Antony's Background
Antony’s career spans back over thirty years. Having graduated from University of Northumbria (Business & Finance), he joined Shire Hotels in 1989 (now Thwaites Hotels & Spas). Moving onto their Assistant Management Development Programme, he gained his first General Managers position in 1999. Antony then went on to manage several properties in their 4* Full-Service hotel portfolio (the largest of these properties delivering a turnover in excess of £6 million). He also attained the role of Regional General Manager, based at his own property and looking after an additional seven units under the Thwaites Inns of Character brand.
In 2019, Antony was headhunted to front up The Lakes Distillery, Cockermouth. This was an entirely new proposition and he assumed General Management responsibility for the Distillery site and visitor experience.
Antony's twenty-year stint in General Management has seen him deliver results with complete accountability through some very challenging times, not least of all Foot & Mouth (Cumbria), the effects on corporate travel after 9/11 (Hampshire), the financial crash of 2008 and latterly the destruction caused by COVID19. He has also delivered multi-million-pound development projects and refurbishments.
He now feels equipped to pass on his experience, aided by qualifications gained via The Business Coaching Academy.
