Why We Do What We Do
and
What We
Get Out of It

A few months ago, I shared a video on LinkedIn talking about career highlights. In it, I spoke about the pride I took (in a previous role) in striking the perfect balance between P&L delivery and total guest satisfaction. But more importantly, I acknowledged what (I believe) has truly defined my career: developing people.

In hospitality, running an hotel is fundamentally about people - your team and your guests. Without a happy, motivated, and driven team, customer satisfaction will always be elusive. Over the years, helping employees grow beyond their expectations has given me a sense of satisfaction that is difficult to put into words. Watching someone evolve, achieve their potential, and even surpass it is a reward far greater than any financial metric or recognition.

Perhaps this passion for people has been the underlying driver behind my transition into business coaching. Following my departure from general management, I found myself drawn to a new mission: helping others unlock their potential and embark on positive personal and professional journeys.

This isn’t just a career for me - it’s a purpose. There’s nothing quite like the gratification of assisting someone in transforming their thinking, overcoming their barriers, and achieving their goals.

Just recently, I’ve been in touch with a couple of former employees. One of them has risen to become COO of a London-based hospitality company. He shared how working with a coach has been "truly transformative".

Hearing this was both validating and inspiring. Another individual, now on the cusp of stepping into General Management, I speak with quite regularly. Whilst I’m more than happy to 'coach' him, we recognised his immediate need for a mentor - someone who is still immersed in the industry's day-to-day challenges. I’ve been able to assist him in finding the right person, and knowing I could contribute in this way is deeply rewarding.

So, has it been about people all along? Absolutely. Whether leading hotel teams or coaching clients, the common thread has always been the opportunity to inspire growth and transformation.

If you have an appetite for personal development or are seeking to navigate a new chapter in your career, I would take personal pride in helping you make that happen.

To close, I want to share a simple yet incredibly touching testimonial from a client

which sums up everything I strive for in my work:

"Antony, hope you and your family have a good Christmas. Thank you for making me

a better person!"

It doesn’t get any better than that!
